Philippine Airlines suspends Abu Dhabi-Manila flights

The Philippines’ flagship carrier is cancelling all flights between Abu Dhabi and Manila, a move that will affect hundreds of Filipino passengers who may have already made early bookings. The temporary cancellation of the service is being carried out as PAL undertakes route assessment initiatives, the company said.

The directive covers all "transmitting portable electronic devices," Zawya reports citing William Hotchkiss, Civil Aviation Director General. However, when planes take off devices must be turned off and on silent mode while a plane is refuelling. Airlines are also told to caution passengers about using speakers and amplifiers in their devices.

Philippine Airlines to increase capacity with new aircraft

Philippine Airlines is to increase capacity on its London to Manila route. The airline is replacing its 254-seat Airbus A340 to a 370-seat Boeing 777 from mid-December. It will also take delivery of six new Airbus A350-900s over the next two years, one of which will serve the London route.
